Neuropathy pain Lab
Neuropathic pain is a chronic debilitating pain due to injury to somatosensory system. Allodynia, hyperalgesia, and spontaneous pain are some of signs of neuropathic pain. Based on injury to peripheral or central nervous system, neuropathic pain is divided into peripheral and central neuropathic pain.
In this laboratory, chronic constriction injury (CCI) of sciatic or infraorbital nerve is common method to induce neuropathic pain. Using behavioral and biochemical analysis of CSF and serum, neuropathic pain responses to pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions are evaluated in our laboratory. Neuropathic pain mechanisms including oxidative stress, inflammatory process, and neurotransmitter release are particularly our interest
